The role of perioperative treatment
Perioperative treatment may be used to improve prognosis for patients with MIBC
Perioperative treatment includes neoadjuvant and adjuvant systemic treatments in addition to radical cystectomy.1 Perioperative treatment is recommended for patients who are eligible for chemotherapy and are fit for surgery to improve prognosis in patients with MIBC.2–4
Immunotherapy may be considered for eligible patients, regardless of whether they received previous platinum-based neoadjuvant treatment.2,3
Several immune checkpoint inhibitors are approved for the treatment of bladder cancer.
